Snow falls in Sahara Desert for the first time in four decades

In nearly 40 years, there has been a snowfall in the Sahara Desert.
This rare phenomenon was captured by an amateur photographer, Karim Bouchetata.
He photographed the enchanting scene on Monday in Ain Sefra, a small town in Algeria.
Karim also disclosed that the snow stayed for about a day before it melted away.

Ain Sefra lies in the Atlas Mountains on the northern edge of the desert. The town has a population of about 35,000. Temperatures in the region can drop below freezing in December.
