Anti-Donald Trump protests have erupted across the country. Protesters filled the streets in Portland,Oregon last night into early Saturday morning. However, it seems things got out of hand.
A young man, who police described as an African American male in his late teens, opened fire. According to officials, the suspect fled the scene in a sedan. One man was shot and taken to a local hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
As a result, Police encouraged the protesters to “leave the area immediately,” via Twitter.
“Preliminary information in indicates that a suspect was in a vehicle on the bridge and there was a confrontation with someone in the protest,” Police said in a statement. “The suspect got out of the vehicle and fired multiple shots injuring the victim.”
Police are still in search of the suspect.
This was the fourth night of protests in the city. Earlier that night, Police told protesters they could be arrested, as their gathering was considered and unlawful assembly. The night before, Portland police described a similar protest as a “riot,” after some protesters reportedly lit fires and smashed store fronts and cars.
