P-Square, D’Banj, Wizkid, Timaya, Asa Were Inspired By Me – Sound Sultan Declares
Veteran singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, made a bold declaration in his recent interview with Vanguard Newspaper. The singer who is revered and celebrated for his success at maintaining a fine music career that has spanned decades, said that he mentored and inspired some of the biggest artistes in the industry today, including P-Square, D’Banj, Wizkid, Timaya and Asa.
In his words:
“So many artistes that are big now, when they were budding artistes I inspired and motivated them, from P-Square to Wizkid, D’Banj, Timaya, Asa and all other guys.”
The Jagbajantis crooner had earlier revealed that he gave Wizkid his first collabo and the Starboy has never hidden his respect for Sound Sultan. It is reported that Wiz refers to the slim and tall singer as his ‘Uncle.’
The statement made by Sound Sultan in the interview, explains why he commands so much respect in the industry and it is going to change the way he is seen by Nigerian music lovers of the younger generation. The singer went ahead to say that he is not threatened by the successes of his mentees and that he plans to stretch his career even further.
“That I want to mentor young up and coming artistes doesn’t stop my own career movement, it’s more like a positive energy; it’s not something you need to take a break from. You don’t have to wait for your fire to die down before igniting another person’s, while your fire is burning you can use it to ignite another person’s fire, so they could feed off the good energy that you emit. That’s why I’m always here; I feel I’ve already done my own thing, all I do now is to satisfy my fans, use the attention and limelight to influence another person”
