Scientists have revealed interesting details why you should start sleeping n*ked as it is very good to your health.
Believe it or not, ditching your PJs and dozing in the buff has a number of surprising physical, mental and even financial benefits.
From adding the spark back into your sex life to saving you some hard-earned cash and even slimming down, there’s never been more reason to cast off your clothes when you hop into bed.
According to Sleep People, there’s 10 benefits of sleeping naked that you probably never knew about.
1. You’ll have more s*x
It may sound silly but sleeping nude will get you in the mood for making love. A little bit of bedroom action is also an automatic mood-booster.
If you and your partner regularly sleep naked next to each other, it’s likely that you’ll have more sex than you would when wearing those restrictive PJs.
2. It will boost your metabolism
Ditching your nightwear can help you burn calories and lose weight. A few different studies have shown that napping in a cooler environment allows the body to produce healthy fats which burn calories to help generate body heat.
Sleeping in a warmer environment doesn’t have this effect, so your metabolism is less effective when you’re wrapped up in clothes.
3. Increases male fertility
If you’re the kind of guy who sleeps in boxers or briefs, it might be time to rethink your nightwear.
New advice from a men’s health expert suggests that lads should stop wearing underwear in bed because it’s bad for your health.
Dr Brian Steixner warned men that they risk getting fertility problems and it’s better to sleep in the buff.
The medic, who is director of the Institute for Men’s Health at Jersey Urology Group, said sleeping in boxers or briefs can affect the quality of sperm because men’s crotches become too warm during the night.
He said: “Your nether regions need to be just the right temperature in order to optimise sperm production. More bacteria makes for a higher likelihood that any chafed or irritated skin down there becomes infected.”
And a study from the National Institute of Child Health and Development at Stanford University found that men who slept in the nude instead of wearing boxer shorts or briefs had a 25% lower rate of damaged DNA in their sperm than men who did wear them.
4. It will de-stress you
Snoozing in the buff keeps cortisol (the stress hormone) in check. If you are overheated in bed, cortisol levels tend to rise.
This can lead to increased anxiety and stress, cravings for bad food and ultimately weight gain, so keeping on top of this is really important.
5. Improves your relationships
If you have a partner who you share a bed with, sleeping naked creates the perfect scenario for some skin-on-skin contact.
Close contact with a significant other can massively boost the amount of oxytocin in your brain. This hormone is the neurotransmitter which helps you feel those impulsive good feelings to your other half.
6. Helps your skin
Your body is restricted by clothes all day long – even in the summer. Let yourself feel the freedom of fresh air by sleeping as nature intended.
Your skin will benefit too because dozing nude can lower the risk of certain skin diseases like athletes foot.
7. Help you sleep better
We’ve all either had a bad nights sleep or woken up in pain because of an unruly twisted t-shirt or awkwardly-placed drawstring.
Why put yourself in a potentially compromising position when you could sleep happily naked?
8. Save you money
Choosing to kip naked makes one part of your wardrobe completely useless, so you won’t have to splash any more cash buying PJs.
9. Make you feel more refreshed in the mornings
You can often wake up from a night’s sleep feeling clammy and sticky from sweating during the night.
But this can quite simply be reduced by throwing off those clothes and embracing your birthday suit at bed time.
