Juan Mata set for new long-term deal after impressing Jose Mourinho
Manchester United are set to offer midfielder Juan Mata a new deal.
The Spain star’s contract with the Old Trafford giants expires at the end of next season.
But he has emerged as a key man in boss Jose Mourinho’s plans – after there were initial fears that he would be dumped for the second time in his career by the Special One when the former Chelsea boss took over this summer following the departure of predecessor Louis van Gaal.
Mourinho – who offloaded Mata to United in 2014 for £38million in his second spll in charge at Stamford Bridge – has been impressed with the 28-year-old’s performances.
Mata has been a regular starter this season, and is now set to be rewarded with a deal that is likely to keep him at Old Trafford for another four years.
