Image of ‘€222m cheque that bought Neymar’ is leaked online
An image of the €222million cheque allegedly used to free Neymar from his Barcelona contract has been leaked online.
The picture, which has been doing the rounds on social media, appears to show the bank document used to complete the costliest transfer in football history.
Paris Saint-Germain were required to pay the fee up front, due to Spanish law, meaning a huge cheque would have likely been used to transfer the huge sum.
Well let’s face it, while suitcases packed with stacks of cash would have been a little more impressive, we’d imagine it would have created quite a few problems.
But despite a cheque being the likeliest form of payment, there is no evidence to suggest that this picture is in anyway genuine.
Neymar stunned the footballing world when he completed his £199million transfer to the Ligue 1 giants last week.
He trained with his new teammates for the first time on Friday, where he linked up with fellow Brazilian’s Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura.
PSG kick-start their season against Amiens on Saturday, but as international clearance for Neymar’s move has not yet arrived, he will have to wait until next week to make his debut.
