A year after being ranked as the highest earning comedian in the world, Kevin Hart has lost his place to the legendary Jerry Seinfeld.

Seinfeld was ranked number two in 2016 but in its latest ranking released on Thursday, Forbes reports that he made an income of $69 million between June 2016 and June 2017.

Hart, who made $87.5 million last year, is in sixth position on the list, with earnings of $32.5 million.

The funny man is said to have sharply dropped on the list because he “only played about a dozen shows this year, choosing instead to focus on bigger projects like the upcoming film Jumanji and his streaming platform Laugh Out Loud, which launches next week as a $40 million joint venture between Lionsgate and Hart’s Hartbeat Digital”.

Ace comedian/actor, Chris Rock was second after Seinfeld, with an estimated income of $57 million while third-placed Louis C.K. earned $52 million.

Dave Chappelle, who once walked away from a $50m contract several years ago, earned $47 million to sit at fourth position while the fifth highest-earner is the only woman on the list for the second year running, actress Amy Schumer who made $37.5 million.

Others are Jim Gaffigan ($30.5 million) Terry Fator ($18.5 million), Jeff Dunham ($15.5 million) and Sebastian Maniscalco ($15 million).

According to Forbes, most of the comedians on the list, including Rock, Seinfeld, and Chappelle, made a chunk of their money through deals with Netflix.

Forbes’ list of highest-paid comedians is compiled based on tour revenue, television and film projects, business ventures and endorsement deals.
