El Chapo’s Judge Shot Dead Outside Home In Mexico
Vicente Antonio Bermudez Zacarias, the Mexican judge presiding over El Chapo’s case, has been murdered.
Vicente Antonio Bermudez Zacarias, the federal judge presiding over El Chapo’s case, was gunned down outside his home in Metepec (45 miles from Mexico City) on Monday while jogging. Zacarias died of his injuries.
El Chapo, who has escaped from prison twice before, currently sits in a federal prison in Cuidad Juarez, close by the Texas-Mexico border. If the Mexican authorities manage to keep El Chapo from escaping again, the 2016 Pablo Escobar could be extradited to the United States by the beginning of 2017. Charges against El Chapo include murder, arms possession, and money laundering.
