Drake Becomes World’s Best-selling Artiste

Canadian rapper, Aubrey Drake Graham, has edged British singer, Adele as the world’s best-selling artiste. Adele was the best-selling artiste of 2015In emerging as the number 1 selling artiste in the world, Drake beat David Bowie, the late rock icon who came in at second place.

In a statement on Wednesday, the chief executive of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) Frances Moore said, “Views became the first album to reach one billion streams on Apple Music, while ‘One Dance’, the album’s second single, was the first song to be played one billion times on Spotify.”

“Drake’s phenomenal success reflects how deeply his unique sound appeals to the enormous global audience,” he added.

The late David Bowie dropped his final album Blackstar just two days before died in January 2016.

British group Coldplay came third, followed by Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyonce and Rihanna.
