Dele Alli and Daniel Sturridge secure easy win for Gareth Southgate

The win made it six points from two games in the hunt for qualification for the 2018 World Cup, putting Southgate’s men in a great position in the group.

Daniel Sturridge scored the first goal of Southgate’s reign, placing a lovely header into the far corner of the net to send England in front, before Dele Alli doubled the lead prior to the break.

The hosts had no real chances to extend the lead in the second half, and they were content to sit on the 2-0 victory, with no fear Malta would get back into the game.
