Cristiano Ronaldo Wins UEFA Champions League Best Player Award.
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the best player of the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League.
The Portuguese scored 16 times in last season’s UCL campaign, and also put away the winning penalty in the final against Atletico Madrid to give his side the victory.
Ronaldo received the most votes in polls carried out by Marca and La Gazzetta dello Sport, and was given the award by Juan Ignacio Gallardo and Gianni Valenti, editor and deputy editor of the two publications respectively.
The forward has admitted that he never thought he would reach the heights he has at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I never expected to reach these numbers,” Ronaldo said after receiving the award, according to Marca.
“I knew that Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, but I didn’t expect to beat the numbers of (Alfredo) Di Stefano and Raul.
“My motivation is to keep making history at the best club in the world.”
Ronaldo has already scored two UCL goals for Real this season.
