Could it be? “Drake” Beefing! With “Backstreet” Boys?!

See, we don’t know if you’ve heard or not, but there’s this little song called “Hotline Bling” that people are really, really loving these days. And it’s no stretch to figure out why everyone’s crazy for it: that cha-cha beat! That catchy AF hook! And that accompanying music video, with its trippy lighting schemes and turtlenecks and instantly GIF-able dance moves.

But according to Backstreet Boys (who are still very much around, in case you didn’t know; just ask Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid), Drizzy ripped them off.

BSB let their Twitter fingers turn to trigger fingers when they fired off a friendly yet semi-accusatory message to Drake, alerting him that their 2000 single “The Call” was the OG “Hotline Bling.”

Not to cause any beef @Drake… but before there was Hotline Bling… there was The Call.

And to hammer home that point, they followed up with a “Hotline Bling”-inspired image featuring the text 1-800-THECALL. Cheeky, cheeky, cheeky.

Of course, this is all in good fun, so don’t go campaigning for Drake to whip up a “Back 2 Back”-esque dis track (we already saw what he did to Meek… can’t even imagine what he’d do to these guys). Just sit back and revel in the amusement that it’s 2015 and we’re somehow still talking about songs with phones in them (cough cough, Adele).
