Brazil becomes first country to qualify 2018 World Cup
Brazil has become the first team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The Selecao defeated Paraguay 3-0 on Wednesday evening. Their win and Uruguay’s 2-1 loss to Peru later in the night, officially comfirmed their qualification for the tournament.
They join Russia as the only two countries to have booked their spots. Russia qualified automatically as the host nation.
Although Brazil’s qualification run started with a loss in the CONMEBOL zone, they have not lost in the 13 games that followed.
Tite’s team have garnered 33 points after 14 matches, with 10 wins, one loss and three draws.
With four games remaining, Colombia, Uruguay and Chile occupy the remaining three guaranteed World Cup spots.
