The director of sporting institutional relations at La Liga giants Barcelona has this morning confirmed that the club were offered a 200 million Euro deal for long-term target Philippe Coutinho.

Barca’s chase of Liverpool star man Coutinho was one of the talking points of the summer transfer window, with the Reds having rejected a number of big-money Blaugrana bids for the Brazilian.
Jurgen Klopp and co. had remained adamant throughout the saga that Coutinho was not for sale at any price, though it has today been revealed that the 25-year-old did indeed have a price-tag, albeit a monumental one.
Required fee
Speaking this morning following a transfer campaign which has been labelled as disastrous by many, Barcelona director of sport Albert Soler confirmed that the Camp Nou giants were informed of what it would take to sign Coutinho last night:
‘Liverpool offered us Coutinho for 200 million Euro.’
The proposal came at the last minute according to Soler, with the Spanish outfit having no intention of paying such a fee, having already reinvested the vast majority of the 222 million Euro they received for Neymar on Ousmane Dembele and Paulinho.
Liverpool have rejected a third bid from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho, according to Sky sources.
