3 Bible Verses That Every Husband Should Read
Being a Christian husband comes with a lot of high expectations. This is because the society has put some standards that a typical Christian husband should live up to. More importantly, he should be a person of noble character who walks in the precepts of Jesus Christ. The scripture clearly stipulates a model of a good husband through various teachings. He should be a leader and not a dictator; he should be the head of his family as Christ is the head of the church. Here are 3 bible verses that every husband should read:
Ephesians 5:22-23 “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.“
This verse has a great teaching specifically to the husband as the head of the family. Christ loved the church so much and even laid down His life for the church. Husbands too should love their wives with such compassion. According to this verse, it is not correct for the husband to treat his wife with violence but with tenderness and compassion.
1 Cor 7:3-5 ‘’ Do not deprive one another sexually except when you agree for a time, to devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again; otherwise, Satan may tempt you because of your lack of self-control.’’
Paul teaches that the husband should be keen to fulfill his marital duty. He goes ahead to explain that failure to be in mutual union in prayer with the wife will give the devil an opportunity to tempt them. The verse also challenges the husband to be vigilant in prayer.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ”Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous ; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly ; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth ; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
This scripture teaches the husband the meaning of love and how to treat the wife.
